Dr. Lewis believes that patients who experience fear or anxiety at the dentist in the past should not prevent them from attaining optimum oral health. Today we offer options for sedation dentistry as a way to relieve anxiety and minimize discomfort. Depending on the dental procedure and the needs of the patient we have three general options of sedation including:
1) Nitrous Oxide for generalized anti-anxiety used chairside.
2) Oral Sedation tailored to each individual patient's needs.
3) IV sedation or general anesthesia administered in our offices by a licensed dental anesthesiologist.
Oral Sedation is commonly used in dental practices during minor surgical procedures. It is also known as anti-anxiety dentistry. The individual needs of each patient are evaluated to establish the most successful sedation protocol.
